Common Marjoram (Origanum vulgare) - also known as Oregano or just Merian - is a herbaceous plant with a bushy growth. The flowers are in small stands and they are pink or white. The whole plant constitutes glands containing fragrant essential oils. The flowers' nectar eagerly sought by bees, bumblebees and butterflies. The dried leaves are used under the name oregano as a herb ("pizza spice"). The spice marjoram tribes does not from Plain Merian, but from the closely related Garden-Merian.
